      James McCabe October 2, 2007

James McCabe, "Jimmy the Jet," of Westvale, passed away after a brief illness. He was born in Syracuse and later attended Cato- Meridian High School. He worked as a pipefitter through Local 267 for 42 years, retiring in 1997. After retiring, he spent winters at his home in West Palm Beach, charter fishing with his son. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his boys. He enjoyed having lunch with his sisters and tea parties with his little girls. He was at every dance recital, gymnastic recital, volleyball game, and softball and T-ball game. He could be found sitting on his front porch with his book, coffee and his "honey" at his side or watching Barney with his grandkids and his candy dish close by. He was always the one to volunteer to get something or help someone out a thousand times a day. Nothing warmed his heart like the smell of his granddaughters' cookies or apple crisp. He was a good father, a great dad and an awesome papa. He will be missed every day, loved every minute and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Smith, and by his son, William Worden.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shirley (Jesmer); his sisters, Eleanor (Joe) Reidy and Joanne Hale; his brother, Terrance (Ann); daughters, Jamie (Jim) Felicia and Stephanie (Edward) Tobin; his sons, Donald (Sandra) Worden and Sam (Bonnie) Worden; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

      Services will be private.

Donations may be made in his name to "From the ground up therapeutic horsemanship Inc." c/o Melissa Tobin, 110 Shady Lane, Syracuse, NY 13219. Please sign the guest book at
