      CHAMPAGNE, Albert J.

      Albert J. Champagne, 76, of Willimantic, formerly of Chaplin, beloved husband for 56 years of Dorothy (Macomber) Champagne, died Tuesday, (December 28, 1999) in St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. He was born Jan. 15, 1923 in Willimantic, son of the late Thomas J. and Glorianna (Martin) Champagne. Mr. Champagne was a truck driver employed by Hartford Dispatch of East Hartford for 23 years, retiring several years ago. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member and past president of the Cha-Wi-Ma Family Camping Assoc., and communicant of St. Mary Church. Besides his wife, his survivors include two sons, Wesley A. Champagne of Holland, MA, and Richard Fuller of Woodstock; four daughters, Mrs. William (Glory) Beer of Chaplin, Mrs. Gary (Gail) DaRos of Woodstock Valley, Doreen Glendinning of Willimantic, and Jane Alice Amaral of South Windsor; a sister, Doris Harrison of Willington; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alcide, Romeo and Omer Champagne; and three sisters: Dolores Champagne, Loretta Tellier and Theresa Connor. The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at 10:45 a.m. from the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic, to the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church on Valley St., in Willimantic. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Calling hours are Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Rd., Windham, 06280 or St. Mary Church Repair Fund, 80 Maple Ave., Willimantic, 06226.
